In a recent interview at the podium, Joe Paterno, who is now 81 years old, and roughly the same age as Al Davis, repeatedly replied "I don't know." Both Joe and Al began their current campaign in the mid 60's. What is the difference between the two? One admits when he doesn't know.
Nothing against Al Davis, he is one of the most intriguing minds still in the NFL. In my opinion he is a genius in his own form.
Both Paterno and Davis have been ridiculed and asked to step down from fans. One question though, why would you step down from an empire? A King remains in power until his death, and so should these two. They are true inventors when it comes to American Football.
The interview with Paterno was beyond classic, it made him look very senile. Although all, or most of the questions were directed towards when he would call it quits, it was hilarious.
"Should I spell it out for you, I don't know?"
The reason for my comparison, is that many non Raider fans believe Al is a numbskull, and he makes a lot of erronous decisions, but does he? He would never admit he was wrong if he did, or would he? It is an open book, because nobody knows what Al will do, but the problem with Paterno is he doesn't know what he will do.
I hope the best for both men, and wish people would just get off their case, people love them, not because of what they are doing now, but what they have done in an overall scheme of things. Nobody can be perfect their whole life, but these two are as close as they come in the world of Football.
