It has become official, although many fans already knew this, the Oakland Raiders have no intentions of keeping Lamont Jordan. It is no surprise, yet the team has tried to trade him, with no luck. The team has asked him not to show up to Spring Training, but will he accept the fact he is being donated to anybody who will take him?
The only reason he has yet to be released, is that the Raiders do not want him to be signed by any division rivals. The Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers could be teams willing to bargain with Lamont, but not for his $4.7 MIL pricetag. The same goes with teams like the Buccaneers, Lions, Bengals, Jets, and even the Texans.
Most of these teams are waiting for the Raiders to release him, making him a free agent, therefore not having to give up anything but a paycheck for him. At the beginning of the 2007 season, he was a very strong runner, but his injury set him back in his season to show his worth to the team.
Whatever team picks him up sometime in the next few weeks will have a good back to split carries, because he is a valid third down back. The Bears might even like to take a swing at him, since he is powerful, and can do somethings that the now released Cedric Benson was never able to accomplish. This will be a fun thing to watch, but wherever you go Jordan, I wish you the best of luck, because you have made me a fan.
